April 2014

This is the third of three ‘special episodes’ that encompasses (and concludes) our coverage of the 2014 Louisville Arcade Expo and was recorded Saturday afternoon, March 8th 2014.

This seminar comprises two parts:

  1. The first portion is John engaging with the audience discussing the highlights of his career and the projects that he has worked on in the past.  We hear about his games and time at Premier, Midway, Williams and Stern with John taking audience questions.
  2. In the second portion, we are then fortunate enough to get Python Anghelo online via Skype for what is an unforgettable interview and story-telling session between both legends of the industry.

What makes this interview and seminar session so special is that this event turned out being the last public appearance by Python before his passing on April 9th, 2014.

We’ve also included the video of the session below as well.  John’s first segment of the seminar runs for ~41 minutes with Python and John together for the balance of the video.

We hope that you enjoy this very special production.  We here at BrokenToken want to extend our sympathies to the friends and family of Python and we also thank John Trudeau for stewarding this wonderful opportunity.

As I’ve heard Python say several times before – “Much Pinball Love”.

RIP and Godspeed.

April 2014

This is the second of three ‘special episodes’ that encompasses our coverage of the 2014 Louisville Arcade Expo.

This show was recorded Saturday night, March 8th 2014 and includes live coverage from the expo floor, a daily recap of the show (with tons of banter, discussion and fun) and some very special sit-in guest interviews.  We have the privilege of talking with  legendary Pinball designer John Trudeau, Preston Burt from the Gameroom Junkies Arcade & Pinball Podcast (who traveled up from Atlanta to visit the expo) and Phoebe Smith, plus a couple of ‘very special’ friends of the show sit in and tell us like they see it.

From Pinball designers, to fellow podcasters to artists and everyone in-between, we’ve got the topic of pinball very well-covered, and we hope everyone enjoys this fantastic round of discussion and insight into the industry.

The livestream broadcast of the Friday night show is now available as well. In addition, we’ll be releasing our special coverage of the John Trudeau and Python Anghelo discussion panel, so please check back for that episode to be posted soon!

Join in on the fun and relive the action of the expo! Brent, Kristi and I proceed to talk ourselves hoarse (again…. and for a second day in a row – we were hurting units by the end of the night)….over all the activity of the show, but it was a fantastic time and we look forward to bringing more live events to the show over time.

Let us know what you think – send us an e-mail (podcast@brokentoken.com) or leave us a voicemail at 470-2CALLBT!

This show was recorded Friday night, March 7th 2014 and includes live coverage from the expo floor, a daily recap of the show (with tons of banter, discussion and fun) and sit-in guest interviews from show participants.  We catch up with Ed Lutz (interviewed in Episode 02), Geoff Schunerle (interviewed in Episode 03), local collector Jason Bradley and Travis Sims from Arcade Rescue 911. To wrap it all up, we even have a special visit from Brent’s niece as she sits in for a bit and gives us all the ‘expert’ view from the perspective that really matters.

We’ll also be releasing the Saturday night livestream show (with special guests John Trudeau, Preston Burt from Gameroom Junkies Arcade & Pinball Podcast and Phoebe Smith, more family members and friends of the show – just to name a few!) along with our special coverage of the John Trudeau and Python Anghelo discussion panel. Episode 6a–The ‘kid’ in all of us

March 2014

(Channeling our inner Gomer – say it with us now….) – “Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!”

Hey everyone, we are back with a special ‘mini-episode’ this week in preparation for the upcoming Louisville Arcade Expo that’s taking place this upcoming weekend, March 7th – 9th, 2014.

Brent couldn’t get over to the mobile studio in time to get this episode ready to go, so I went to the bench and enlisted the help of my 8-year old daughter (Pumpkin) to sit in on this episode with me and we talk about the Expo from all kinds of angles – and from two very different sets of eyes.   It’s amazing what sticks with the kiddos…

Besides the classic arcade and pinball action that everyone is ready for, we cover the upcoming events and seminar schedule, as well as our upcoming live stream events.  We’ve got the schedule published below so you can refer back to it at any time.

All broadcasts will be available on our MixLR Radio feed – http://www.mixlr.com/brokentoken

Episode 06 – What Time (Pilot) Is It?

2

Brokentoken-podcast-episodestamp-06

February 2014

Brent and I venture into some new ground with the 6-month anniversary episode and respond to some listener requests by hosting the first of a series of editorial segments on ‘what is retro’ and ‘restored vs. refurbished vs. reproduction’ and discuss the merits of each and where we feel each topic has relevance in collecting and preserving our beloved games.

We also do some more in-depth coverage on what will be our first ‘podcast appearance’ with our booth at the Louisville Arcade Expo.  We have lots of discussion around that topic as Brent and I will be hosting several panel discussions, doing some live streaming and recording some live interviews as well.  We will also be taking up a collection for the GoFundMe drives for Barry Oursler and Python Anghelo.

We also spend some time talking about current project progress, artwork and parts reproduction parts coming available this month and anything else that we can cram in between segments!

Curious about the show title?  We pimp Time Pilot no less than 20 times this month (in a number of points through the episode), so we only felt it proper to give back a little respect.
