Louisville Arcade Expo 2011!

Mark your calendar – March 4-6, 2011 – www.arcaderx.com.

I’ve never known Louisville to host such an event, so I’m super-stoked that the arcade preservation/collection/playing hobby is gaining some local coverage.  I’m definitely going to be attending with camera in hand to capture everything that is going on at the expo.  I hope to run into some friends and local collectors and get some play time in as well.

Looks like they’re setting up for a pinball tournament, hosting a lot of classic consoles, and are also allowing people to bring games to sell, which is a nice perk.  It is sometimes (very) hard to get a good audience of potential buyers for a specific game, so this could be a good opportunity to price something to move.  If you bring a game and set it on free play, then admission is free for the day as well.  That’s a pretty sweet deal, but I doubt I’ll want to haul a game out of the basement and back… it takes a lot for me to want to yank something out once it finds its place… LOL.

Post up if you’re planning on attending and what day you might be thinking about going.  It’d be cool for some fellow collectors/appreciators to meet up, if possible.

Game on!

Should be a great time. The guys that are putting this together know their gaming inside and out…literally. My daughter and her boyfriend attended today and said it was a blast. A must do event for all ages.

      Patty,

I’ve heard from a few people that the crowd was good and there was plenty to see, so I think it’ll be great. I’m headed up there today, so I’ll be posting up a full report and pictures for those that cannot attend.

      Thanks for the comment!

Hi Whitney! I am one of the people involved with organizing the expo. Great to see you are excited! I wanted to let you know that we are going to be giving away a Space Shuttle pinball machine for a tournament prize (not sure of the entry fee yet. We are getting someone professional to run this). Also, we are giving away a Commando Video Arcade machine. The Video Arcade tournament entry is a canned-good, which we will be donating to Dare-to-Care!

      Jeremy,

Thanks a lot for the information! The tourney prizes sound fantastic and should hopefully really help to increase the attendance! I’m not good enough at anything right now to get into any tourney action, but I’ll be sure to bring some canned food for donation, regardless. Thanks again!
